Upper Deck Dedicated Deck Card Games 10955 Editorial Review
The Upper Deck Legendary: What If...? set has garnered a mixed reception from customers. While it is advertised as an introductory standalone set, it is perceived more like an expansion for experienced players of the Legendary series or deck-building games in general. The set includes a neoprene playmat, alternate art starter cards, and new Keywords, making it suitable for those looking to expand their existing collection. For new players, the complexity of the rules and the lower card count compared to other introductory sets in the series may be a drawback. The set lacks the variety and replayability of the original base game, as it contains fewer cards, heroes, and schemes. It also does not include dividers, which are usually part of a Legendary base game, adding an extra cost for players who want them. However, for experienced Marvel Legendary players seeking to enhance their collection with more variety and storage space for small box expansions, the What If...? set is recommended. The set offers a novel playmat, a unique space theme, and new Hero, Mastermind, Villain, and Henchman Villain cards to add to an existing collection. Overall, the What If...? set receives a 3-star rating for new players and a 5-star rating for experienced players, averaging to a 4-star rating. While the gameplay and components are generally well-received, some customers have reported missing cards in their sets, leading to inconvenience and extra work in verifying the contents. **
